About Kahn College Consulting, LLC

Lori Kahn, M. Ed. has spent 22 years as a college administrator in admissions, academic advising and counseling. She also has experience teaching at the college level. Lori holds a masters degree in counseling psychology, has completed the course work for a doctorate in educational administration and is a graduate of the Independent Educational Consultants Association Summer Training Institute.

Lori’s organizational skills and detail-oriented approach have proven successful in helping families navigate the world of college admissions. Her college consulting service begins with interpreting data from the Soul-Searching Student Survey, a personal assessment tool, which is a key element in identifying the best college match. Throughout the process, she provides guidelines and structure for families to find the ‘best fit’ college choices. Lori has guided numerous students and their families through the complex college admissions process.

The cornerstone of her informative college consulting service is the first-hand knowledge of the unique characteristics of and varied programs offered by the colleges she suggests. With ongoing visits to college campuses across the country, Lori keeps current with admissions practices and standards as well as discovering hidden gems. In addition to her consulting practice, she teaches courses in managing cultural diversity and intercultural communications in graduate and professional studies programs at local colleges. She also advises international and expatriate students with college placement in the U.S., counsels adults returning to college and teaches corporate-sponsored college admissions workshops.

Lori continues her professional development by attending national and regional conferences and workshops on college admissions. She is a member of the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) where she is a committee member for the 2009 Philadelphia National College Fair and a member of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admissions Counseling (PACAC) where she serves on the professional development committee. In addition, she is on the Board of Directors of Main Line School Night, a seventy-year-old nonprofit organization which provides the community with courses for life-long learning educational pursuits.

She is a former trustee and past president of the Parents’ Association at The Baldwin School. As a parent of recent college and medical school graduates she understands the questions and concerns many families face during this puzzling but exciting time in their child’s educational journey. Kahn College Consulting works with the student and family on key issues to demystify this complex process.
